Hey everyone!! Thanks for visiting the blog...So, I got braces last week and it has really slowed my cooking down. I will probably be able to start back up later this week. It is a little hard to eat anything that you have to chew, so I am living on Shakes/Smoothies, whichever you prefer to call them, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes and the occasional pudding! oh, and scrambled eggs. They tell me I will be tender for up to one month. Right now I have bite blockers in, so I can't chew...lovely.
I stocked up on the following items at Costco last weekend in SHAKE/SMOOTHIE anticipation this week!!
5 pds Bananas, Home prep, kept 4 on counter, froze four peeled and sliced in baggies - dated labeled
3 pounds strawberries, Home prep, made 3 quart size baggies, sliced, froze two, kept one in fridge
1 container blueberries - freeze these in baggie
honey for sweetener
Greek yogurt - Kirkland has its own brand, in large containers, good yogurt too! keep in fridge
Almond Milk
1 large container Muscle Milk Vanilla protein powder
Yogurt - Strawberry - Banana Protein shake this morning:
3/4 cup almond milk - or more if too thick
1 scoop Muscle Milk Protein Powder
3/4 cup of greek yogurt
1 cup strawberries
1/2 banana
1 pouch stevia sweetner or if you prefer honey, honey has calories though so I use it sparringly!!
This more than satisfies me until lunchtime and is great for the old afternoon snack!
I use my Magic Bullet Blender for these guys. My teeth are sensitive, so I do not use ice at all in my shakes. The strawberries are chilled or frozen and this makes the shake a little chill.
